When I was 9 years old, I filled out a prompt about what art meant to me, and looking back, it’s both funny and heartwarming to see how I described it. I wrote about how art lets you “put your emotions on paper,” how “your mind gets confused and you explore with it,” and how it’s something you “feel, create, and discover.” Even then, I understood art as something deeply personal and freeing—a way to process emotions and make sense of the world in a way that words sometimes can’t.

Revisiting this reminds me that the essence of art hasn’t changed for me. It’s still about curiosity, creativity, and expressing what’s inside. It’s humbling to see how my younger self got it so right and how those simple truths about art continue to shape me today.
